OCSD5 Honors “Senior Scholars” From The Class of 2017

    The Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five (OCSD5) Board of Trustees honored the top ten percent of the graduating senior classes at Bethune-Bowman High School, North High School, Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, and the High School for Health Professions during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees on April 18, 2017.

    A total of forty-one (41) students, along with their parents and family members, were recognized by the Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Jesse Washington for their hard work and outstanding record of academic achievement. All of the students have been accepted into college and university programs and have cumulatively received scholarship offers in excess of $5.72 million.

    The Senior Scholars from each school are:

Bethune-Bowman High School
·             Shaniyah Bradley has received $96,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Pre-Pharmacy at Howard University.
·             Zaria Boyd has received $1,096,600 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina – Upstate.

·             Shamari Harley has received $88,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Computer Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
·             Katora Jackson has received $666,400 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Psychology at Clemson University.

North High School
·             Brook Baker has received $131,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Nursing at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
·             Erikqua Dash has received $131,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Nursing at the University of South Carolina – Aiken.
·             Angel Haigler has received $161,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Nursing at the University of South Carolina – Aiken.
·             Taliyah Wise has received $125,550 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Nursing at the University of South Carolina – Aiken.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School
·             Kevin Boutte’, Jr. has received $37,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Chemistry at Claflin University.
·             Jessica Butler has received $145,000 in scholarship offers. She plans to attend Claflin University or Wingate University and is undecided on her college major.
·             Keyawna Campbell has received $208,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Elementary Education at Claflin University.
·             Cameron Davis has received $23,500 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Communication (Broadcast Journalism). He is undecided on his college selection.
·             Samantha Davis has received scholarship offers of $180,453 and plans to major in Nursing at the University of South Carolina – Upstate, Georgia State University, or Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
·             DaShawn Dukes has received $77,700 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Computer Engineering at Claflin University.
·             Alexis Glover has received $91,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in the Dental Hygienist program at Greenville Technical College.
·             Shatarra Glover has received $145,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Speech Pathology or Graphic Design. She is undecided on her college selection.
·             Destiny Haynes has received $37,920 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Civil Engineering at Claflin University.
·             Clifton James has received $177,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology (Biomedical Engineering) at the University of South Carolina.
·             Jordyn Jenkins has received $95,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Pre-Physical Therapy at Winthrop University.
·             Sikeem Keller has received $27,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Business Administration. He is undecided on his college selection.
·             Venus McKinney has received $101,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Accounting at Coastal Carolina University.
·             Autumn Moorer has received $95,800 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Business at Coastal Carolina University.
·             Christian Noriega has received $104,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Baking and Pastry Arts at Johnson & Wales University.
·             Sa’Quel Pepper has received $35,200 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Business Management. He is undecided on his college selection.
·             Rasheed Purboo has received $104,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Computer Engineering. He is undecided on his college selection.
·             Jasmin Rivers has received $83,460 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Nursing at Lander University.
·             Chaymia Scott has received $91,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Pre-Medicine and Exercise Science at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University or East Carolina University.
·             Tracci Scoville has received $76,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Early Childhood Education at Coastal Carolina University or Lander University.
·             Di’amyn Simmons has received $334,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology at Barry University.
·             Tiasia Vogt has received $104,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in psychology at Clemson University.
·             Danielle Walker has received $112,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Studio Arts and Graphic Design at Winthrop University.
·             Devaughn Williams has received $92,000 in scholarship offers. He is undecided on his college selection.

High School for Health Professions
·             Tillmon Ancrum, II has received $21,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Marine Science at Coastal Carolina University.
·             Lauryn Bryan has received $86,800 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology at Claflin University.
·             Chandlar Glover has received $20,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology. She is undecided on her college selection.
·             Madison Irick has received $154,500 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology at Claflin University (Alice Tisdale Honors College).
·             Antoinette Johnson has received $37,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Psychology. She is undecided on her college selection.
·             Nicholette Lowman has received $20,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Biology. She is undecided on her college selection.
·             Shani McMillan has received $21,000 in scholarship offers and plans to major in English at the University of South Carolina.
·             Merilyn Palmer has received $21,250 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Chemistry or Biochemistry. She is undecided on her college selection.
·             Asha Simpson has received $267,625 in scholarship offers and plans to major in Exercise Science. She is undecided on her college selection.

    “I want to recognize our Senior Scholars for the extraordinary commitment and effort that brought them to this point of academic success and achievement”, said OCSD5 Superintendent Dr. Jesse Washington. He continued, “I also want to recognize your parents and family members for their support, their love and encouragement that helped to make your success possible.”

    As an acknowledgment of their accomplishments, each of the Senior Scholars received a laptop computer, a backpack, a gift certificate, a trophy, and a framed Certificate of Achievement.
